Debjani Kapila

Debjani Kapila is the senior licensing manager at Venture Partners at CU Boulder, where she leads the chemical sciences portfolio. In her role, she works closely with university inventors to transform groundbreaking research into commercial opportunities, helping bridge the gap between the laboratory and the marketplace.

Before joining the University of Colorado, Debjani held senior leadership positions at Dolby Laboratories and GE Aerospace’s Licensing Division, where she directed global initiatives in intellectual property strategy, technology evaluation, business development and commercialization. Her career reflects a deep passion for innovation and a strong track record of guiding complex technologies toward real-world impact.

Debjani holds a PhD in organic chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science and is a registered U.S. Patent Agent. With over 15 years of experience at the intersection of science, technology and business, she is dedicated to fostering collaboration between academia and industry and advancing the translation of research into solutions that benefit society.
