5 tips and tricks for using Kazoo

1. Filter your feed
When you log into Kazoo with your IdentiKey, all users from CU Boulder will appear in your activity feed. To curate your activity feed, click on the “Filter” link. This will show a long list of departments at CU Boulder, and selecting individual departments will show only those staff members’ posts in your feed. Select the departments that you’d like to follow and click “Save” to make permanent changes. There may be duplicate names for departments in the list and you may have to select both options.
You can also follow specific people. Use the search bar and type in someone’s name to bring up their profile. Click on the “Follow” button to have their posts appear in your activity feed.
2. Share recognition often
You have a balance of points to send to colleagues, and this balance will reset each quarter. Be sure to share recognition with your colleagues often to use up your “points to send” balance before it replenishes.
Consider scheduling time for yourself each week to log into Kazoo and share recognition with your colleagues. You can also “high five” recognition posts from others that appear in your feed to share five points of your own with the person who was recognized.
3. Adjust your email notification settings
Click on your name in the top right corner of the Kazoo homepage to show a drop down menu, where you will find notification settings. You can choose if you’d like to receive email notifications from Kazoo when certain actions are taken. Click “Save changes” to make your adjustments permanent.
4. Update your profile
Personalize your Kazoo profile and earn incentive points by adding a profile picture. Click on your name in the top right corner of the Kazoo homepage to show a drop down menu, where you can choose to view your profile. Then, click on the circle with your initials to upload a new photo.
Your birthday and start date on your profile are public to all Kazoo users. To remove those dates from your profile, click the “Edit” button on your profile.
5. Download the app
There is a free Kazoo mobile app for Android and Apple devices. Once you’ve downloaded the app, enter “colorado” for the company URL and log in with your IdentiKey.
Visit the CU Boulder Kazoo webpage for more information and FAQs. Student Affairs has a team of Kazoo administrators in place to help answer questions and manage features of the platform. If you have questions or need assistance, email Meagan Gabaldon, employee engagement program director in SA HR.
