Dr. Lane Washington is the Senior Advisor to the Vice Chancellor (VCSA) within the Division of Student Affairs. In his role, he serves as the strategic advisor to the VCSA and Student Affairs Leadership Team. Additionally, he provides leadership and direction for the development, coordination, and execution of priorities, programs and initiatives for the VCSA.

Prior to CU, Dr. Washington worked at the University of Florida where he served as a leader in student engagement, K-12 access initiatives, multicultural affairs, leadership development and community learning. He has also spent time focusing on graduate student success, global engagement and retention programs, diversity, equity and inclusion efforts at Florida State University and Ohio State. Prior, he spent time in the nonprofit sector focused on community transformation. Dr. Washington also served as a graduate affiliate faculty member focusing on higher education and student affairs, multicultural education, and administration. His research interests and scholarship focus on race, ethnicity and social justice.

Dr. Washington received his Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University and his bachelor’s (Business Marketing) and doctoral degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University.
