Our communications and engagement model features an integrated approach to strategy, deliverables and metrics. Built from the foundation of our strong CU Boulder visual identity, Be Boulder. was developed as a supporting brand messaging platform that demonstrates the positive results we achieve and the bold, innovative spirit of our university. It is expressed through the real-life experiences of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and supporters. Our content strategy focuses on our campus strategic imperatives (Lead. Innovate. Impact.) through the inspiring stories of our dynamic people, innovative programs and positive outcomes.

Paid

Our paid opportunities involve advertising the university for the purposes of recruitment, reputation and engagement in campus activities. In close collaboration with campus partners and senior leadership, we engage in an array of digital placements, paid social media, pay-per-click, broadcast and out-of-home advertisements each year.

Earned

Our earned opportunities come from achieving news coverage of the university. Our strategic media relations team cultivates close connections with local, regional, national and international outlets to help get stories of our faculty research, student success and other campus efforts the exposure they deserve.

Owned

Our owned opportunities are those in which we "own" the distribution channels. Our team strategically generates and manages our websites, emails, social media posts, printed materials and merchandise for campus communications and academic initatives, as well as recruitment and reputational needs.

Digital Engagement

Our digital engagement strategy emanates from our integrated paid, earned and owned efforts. We maintain the full suite of @cuboulder social media channels, consult with and support our campus partners, cultivate a robust campus crowdfunding program and provide issues/crisis management support as needed.

Issues and Crisis Management

We take the lead in enabling the campus to follow a consistent process for leadership response to relevant emergencies (snow closures, etc.) and issues/reputation management circumstances (events, incidents, etc.) to enable coordination with key stakeholders when these instances occur.

Strategic Government and Community Relations

Working in close concert with colleagues in government relations and publich outreach and engagement, our strategic government and community relations team shares CU Boulder news and priorites in stewardship of our relationships with key external community, government and business stakeholders in Colorado and beyond.
