Bio: Miranda grew up in New Hampshire and did her undergrad at Brown University, where she used fossil pollen records to study Pleistocene climate change.  She eventually landed at Yale University where she did her PhD with Dr. Michael Donoghue, studying spatial patterns in fruit colors as well as the evolution of structural colors in the plant clade Viburnum.  Starting in the fall of 2019, Miranda is working jointly with Dr. Smith and Dr. Silvia Vignolini (University of Cambridge) to continue work on structural color in the fruits of Elaeocarpus.
