Bio

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Chelsea graduated from Harris-Stowe State University with her undergraduate degree in Biology in December 2015. While an undergrad, she has many successes such as being an REU intern at both the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Danforth Center and being granted an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Chelsea is currently working in the tomatillo genus, Physalis. She is investigating the evolutionary history of this group through the intraspecific breakdown of the gametophytic self-incompatibility system. During her PhD program, Chelsea has gained a love for the Solanaceae family and hosts weekly SolSeminar Online seminars with Rocío Deanna and Andres Orejuela. When Chelsea isn't doing research or connecting people with resources, you can find her cooking, gardening, or watching too many animated tv shows.
