SBO is Hiring!
Sommers-Bausch Observatory is looking for a responsible student to assist in running the observatory. You must be self-motivated and enjoy learning on the job.
10-20 Hours per week with a flexible schedule
Work Study is required.
Some Responsibilities Might Include:
- Setting up lab equipment.
- Telescope Maintenance and Upgrades
- Web Design and Social Media
- Assisting with running and maintaining the building.
- Outreach
Some desirable but not required skills are:
- Making Skills (Machining, Electronics, etc.)
- Telescope Experience
- An Astronomy Background

- Do you have work study and if so, how much do you currently have? (If the answer is no, please do not send in an application as work study is required.)
- Do you have experience setting up and using any kind of telescopes?
- Do you have any maker skills? (Programming, Electronics, Machining, 3D Printing, Sewing, etc.)
- How might you assist in outreach to communities that are historically underrepresented in Astronomy and Astrophysics?
- Have you taken or are you taking ASTR1030 or ASTR1010?
- Do you have any knowledge of the night sky? (Names of constellations, types of objects, etc.)
- About how many semesters do you have left before graduating? (Including Fall 2024)
