S. Brent Plate, visiting associate professor of religious studies at Hamilton College, gave a lecture at CU-Boulder on Monday, Sept. 30, at 5:30pm in Hale 270.  His presentation, "A History of Religion in 5 1/2 Objects," was drawn from his forthcoming book of the same title, and engaged the ways that humans use material objects to connect with the sacred, focusing on five ordinary objects that have been used in religious ceremonies around the world: stones, crosses, incense, drums, and bread.  The lecture was free and open to the public, and was followed by a reception.
