Christina Thompson is a masters student in Civil Engineering with a focus on Hydrology, Water Resources, and Environmental Fluid Mechanics. She is interested in the intersection between river management and environmental restoration. Currently, she is interested in understanding sedimentation in beaver ponds at the pond, reach, and watershed scale. Her project is in collaboration with the Bureau of Reclamation to modify a 2-dimensional hydraulic model to include beaver dams and their impacts on sediment transport. She completed her bachelors in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where she worked on projects involving hydrodynamics and water treatment. Her passion for outdoor recreation drives her to understand and protect the natural world.
