My current research focuses on improving data-based models of the Earth's ionospheric and magnetospheric magnetic fields. I use measurements from ground magnetic observatories, the CHAMP satellite and the Swarm satellite constellation. Monica's research focuses on designing synthetic hydrogels to mimic extracellular matrix properties to understand cell-matrix interactions for tissue engineering. Outside of the lab, Monica loves to be outside hiking, backpacking, and skiing while capturing the mountains through landscape photography and painting.
