Nana's Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup Snowdrift (use Crisco or similar shortening)
  • 3 cups sugar (we prefer 2 3/4 cups)
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • In your stand mixer, cream butter and shortening. Add sugar in 1/2 cup increments; cream well. Add flour and cocoa in 1/2 cup increments until incorporated. Add milk and eggs, one at a time. Add baking soda, salt, and vanilla. Beat well.
  • Grease and flour a tube pan. (We use butter and cocoa.)
  • Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325 degrees.
