Outside of Stearns, 
Williams Village

Check-In
Check in for NSO outside of the residence hall where you’ll be staying overnight. 
You’ll pick up name tags for you and your registered guests, get your room assignment and drop off your luggage in your room. 

Be back downstairs and ready to head to the Welcome by 3:15 p.m. 
Don't forget to bring anything with you that you'll need for the next few hours!

3:30-4 p.m.

Welcome
We'll welcome you to campus and share an overview of what to expect from your NSO experience.

4-4:45 p.m.

Small Group
It's time to meet your Journey Leader—a current CU student who is here to help you 
throughout both NSO and Fall Welcome! During your first small group, you'll learn more 
about what you'll be doing throughout the next two days, and your Journey Leader will help you get to know the other new Buffs in your group.

Build Your CU Bucket List & Dinner
Journey Leaders will teach you all about CU’s traditions and encourage you to reflect on the ones you bring to campus with you, too.

You'll also enjoy dinner with your small group in one of our campus dining halls.

Meet your Journey Leader back at your small group location to chat about getting involved, building community and finding your place on CU's campus.

New Buffs Social
Choose from a variety of activities to enjoy and connect with your fellow new Buffs as you wrap up your first day of Orientation.

While there is no designated time for you to return to your room after the Social, 
please remember that you are sharing a room with someone and that we have an early start in the morning.

Breakfast & Residence Hall Check-Out
Grab breakfast in the dining hall before our first session of the day. 
You'll also need to check out of your room before our Welcome Back session, so we recommend doing so prior to going to breakfast.

To check out, drop your linens in a collection bin in the hallway and stop by the front desk to officially check out. 
If you have a vehicle, we recommend putting your luggage in your car; otherwise, you can leave your luggage in our holding room.

Be sure to keep your access card so that you can use it to eat lunch and 
to bring your laptop, tablet or phone with you today, as you will need it for class registration and 
will not have time to return to your luggage to get it before then.

9-9:15 a.m.

Join us for a panel discussion about academic support resources available to students at CU Boulder, 
and get your questions answered by representatives from ASAP Tutoring, the Writing Center, 
Disability Services, and CU's faculty.

All Buff Breakouts are 25 mins and are presented at both 10 and 10:30 a.m. 
Choose the two presentations you want to attend.

11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Small Group & Lunch and Info Fair
Connect with your small group one last time to talk about registering for classes and what's waiting for you 
when you return to campus for Fall Welcome.

You'll also have time to grab one last meal in the dining hall. During lunch, be sure to also check out the 
Info Fair happening on the first floor of Village Center, around the bottom of the stairs, to hear more from a 
variety of campus offices and resources.

12:30 p.m.

Williams Village Bus Stop

Bus to Main Campus

We will meet at 12:30 p.m. sharp to take buses to Main Campus for travel to your advising and registration location. 
BE ON TIME! 
Don't forget to bring your laptop, tablet or phone with you to use for class registration.

1-5 p.m.

Academic Advising and Registration
Meet with advisors from your academic college, school or program to learn more about 
the requirements for your major and make a plan for your course schedule. 
Then register for your Fall semester classes.

Everyone will be done with this process at different times. 
Once you have finished registering for classes, you can check out any Open Houses 
that you'd like to stop by (optional) and then catch the bus back to Williams Village. 

You're officially done with Orientation!

Once you're done for the day, head back to the CASE Bus Stop to catch a bus back to Williams Village. 
Buses are circulating until 6 p.m. (the last bus will leave CASE at 5:45 p.m.). 
Don't forget to pick up your luggage at Stearns Hall if you left it in the holding space.

Want to get the student perspective on life at CU? Ask our Journey Leaders all your 
burning questions and learn more about their experiences, how their families helped them during 
their transition to college and what they wish they had known then.

Enjoy lunch in one of our campus dining halls, and be sure to also check out the 
Info Fair happening on the first floor of Village Center, around the bottom of the stairs, 
to hear more from a variety of campus offices and resources.

Supporting Your Student in Their First Year
Through large and small group discussion, this session will provide an opportunity to work 
through some of the major dilemmas students face during their first semester of college. 
Campus professionals are here to answer questions and provide resources for how to help 
your young adult transition to life at CU.

Once this session wraps up, your Family and Guest Orientation is officially done! 
You can take advantage of our optional Campus Tour and a variety of Open Houses on Main Campus 
while you wait for your student to finish registering for classes, and then head home whenever you and your student 
are ready. If you take the bus to Main Campus, please note that buses back to Williams Village run until 6 p.m.
