Whether your student is in their first year or last year at CU Boulder, now is about the time to start thinking about the future when it comes to academics.

Academic Support Resources

If your student feels they are struggling with one or more of their classes this semester, they have options with on-campus academic support and resources. Your student might also benefit from meeting one-on-one with their professor by attending office hours to discuss any concerns or questions regarding the class.  If your student is considering disputing a grade or has a potential conflict with their professor, the Ombuds office helps support students with administrative concerns.

Additionally, there are free academic workshops your student can take through Counseling & Psychiatric Services – the Getting It Done workshop helps students develop skills to overcome procrastination and low motivation. The Bounce Back Program helps students on or near academic alert, academic probation or academic recovery develop time management skills and effective study habits while rebuilding their confidence.

Scholarships

Now is the time for your student to start seeking scholarship opportunities. The CU Boulder Scholarship Application is available year-round through the student portal, however, the majority of scholarships are available to view from October 1 through February 15. More information about CU Boulder Scholarships can be found here.

Education Abroad

Studying abroad is an incredible opportunity for your student to travel, explore and broaden their perspectives while staying on track with their degree.  Coursework is available for all majors offered at CU Boulder, and there are lots of affordable options to choose from. View more information about studying abroad here.

Graduation

The deadline for undergraduate students to submit, update or cancel a fall graduation application is December 14. More information for students planning to graduate in December 2017 can be found here.  While University Commencement ceremonies occur only in the spring, some departments or colleges host recognition ceremonies for winter graduates.

Encourage your student to start planning ahead, no matter where they are in their academic journey.
