Day One

Time and Location

Description

2-3 p.m.

Check in for orientation in the residential neighborhood where you’ll be staying overnight
3:45-4:15 p.m.Welcome
We'll welcome you to campus and share an overview of what to expect from your orientation experience.
4:15-5 p.m.Small Group
It's time to meet your Journey Leader—a current CU student who is here to help you throughout both orientation and Fall Welcome!
5-6:30 p.m.Buff Traditions & Dinner
Journey Leaders will teach you all about CU’s traditions, and you’ll enjoy dinner in one of our campus dining halls.
6:45-7:15 p.m.Small Group
Meet your Journey Leader again to chat about getting involved, building community and finding your place on CU's campus.
7:30-9:30 p.m.New Buffs Social
Choose from a variety of activities to enjoy and connect with your fellow new Buffs as you wrap up your first day of orientation.

Day Two

Time and Location

Description

7-8:15 a.m.

Breakfast & Residence Hall Check-Out
Grab breakfast before our first session of the day and check out of your residence hall.
8:25 a.m.Welcome Back
We'll cover today's schedule and the structure of our Buff Breakouts, including information about what’s required for you and what’s optional.
8:45 a.m.Buff Breakouts
During our three breakout sessions, you will attend a presentation from your college, school or program, and then attend two additional presentations of your choice.
11 a.m.Small Group & Lunch
Connect with your small group one last time and have lunch in the dining hall.
12:30 - 5 p.m.Academic Advising & Registration
We’ll walk you to your advising location for the afternoon, where you’ll meet with an advisor and register for classes. Don’t forget to bring a laptop or tablet to use for class registration!
Until 6 p.m.Luggage Pick-Up
Don’t forget to pick up any luggage left in the holding area at your residence hall before you head home. Travel home safely, and we’ll see you in the fall!

Family Schedule

3:30 p.m.Family and Guest Welcome
We'll welcome you to campus and share an overview of what you and your student can expect during New Student Orientation.
3:45 p.m.Know Before They Go
Join New Student & Family Programs to learn about your student’s transition to college and how to make the most of the time before they begin classes in the Fall.
5:30 p.m.Safety and Wellness
Hear about resources to help your student stay safe, healthy and happy.
5:30 - 6:15 p.m.

Family and Guest Social
Enjoy some light refreshments and build your support network by spending some time getting to know families and guests of other new CU Buffs.

This is our last Family and Guest Orientation session of the day. Head out when you're ready, to enjoy dinner on your own.

Day Two

8:45 a.m.Buff Breakouts
During our three breakout sessions, you and your student will attend a presentation from their college, school or program, and then attend two additional presentations of your choice.
11 a.m.Journey Leader Panel
Get the student perspective on life at CU.
11:30 a.m.Supporting Your Student
Talk through some of the dilemmas your student may face during their transition to college and develop strategies to help.
12:45 p.m.

Lunch
Enjoy lunch in one of our campus dining halls.

After lunch, visit other offices to take care of business or ask questions, or participate in some optional afternoon activities, while you wait for your student to return from Academic Advising & Registration.
