Take advantage of fall break

Support during finals

Happy Fall Break!
With the end of the semester in sight, many students are thankful to have a week away from schoolwork and academic responsibilities before finals come around in December! Whether your student comes home for the break or stays in Boulder, keep checking in with them to make sure that they are getting the support they need. It can be easy for students to get distracted with the fun ideas about what they'll do (or not do) during school breaks, but we want to make sure they stick with it until the end of the semester and finish strong!

Here are some resources to consider when talking with your student and some ideas to help them make the most of their Fall Break:

Students at home

School breaks are an exciting time for both students and families. Reuniting and socializing with missed friends, home-cooked meals and no homework are just a few of the perks! But being back home for can present some unexpected challenges for everyone. Check out some of these tips to help both of you have a great break. Read US News' tips

Students on campus

Is your Buff staying on campus or in Boulder for Fall Break? Residence halls are open, but Dining Services has limited hours this week. But don’t worry about them getting bored! From hiking to volunteering, there is plenty for them to do in the Boulder area. Encourage your student to get out and explore the community. Find events in Boulder

Scholarships

Financing college can require significant planning. Scholarships can be a great way to help pay for your student's education. CU Boulder's scholarship application is open now! Encourage your student to start applying for scholarships over break so when they return in the spring they are prepared. Application deadline: Feb. 15

Support during finals

Finals are approaching and that means that students may be under additional stress as they work hard to finish the semester. When they're feeling this pressure, they may turn to you for support. If they do, be prepared with on-campus resources to offer your student. They're not reaching out? Take a minute to check in with them. Find resources
