Brief Bio: Megan Collins is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC). Megan graduated from CU Boulder in 2020 (Summa Cum Laude, With Distinction) with a major in Mathematics and minor in ATOC, and is concurrently pursuing a Professional Master’s in Applied Math at CU Boulder. Megan's undergraduate research in mathematics has been published in the PUMP Journal of Undergraduate Research. While an undergraduate at CU Boulder, Megan also conducted an Independent Study project in the Oceans and Climate Lab entitled Examining the Relationship Between Sea Surface Temperatures and Tropical Cyclone Wind Speed. Megan continues research along similar lines, focusing on remote sensing and modeling of North Atlantic tropical cyclones and their interactions with the upper ocean.
