Defended thesis and graduated (5/2024) ~~~ Brief Bio: While establishing a career as a Water Resources Engineer at Stantec, Elizabeth Simon joined CU Boulder in Fall 2022 and the Oceans & Climate Lab in Spring 2023 as a graduate student pursuing a Master's in Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering with a specialization in Hydrology, Water Resources & Environmental Fluid Mechanics. Following her B.S in Civil Engineering from Seattle University, Elizabeth worked in water resources engineering in California. Elizabeth has also participated in Engineers for a Sustainable World projects in Thailand and Puerto Rico. Her interests include the intersection of water, climate change resiliency, and policy.

Elizabeth will be developing a high-resolution model of the circulation within the Galápagos Archipelago, with applications to climate change adaptation, conservation policy, and evolutionary biology. This project is directly motivated by the interdisciplinary needs of the Island Systems Integration Consortium Research Coordination Network (ISIC-RCN), a consortium of geologists, climatologists, and biologists, and will involve collaborations with the doctoral research of group member Mikell Warms. Funding for Elizabeth's participation in this research project in the Oceans & Climate Lab is provided by the Center for Social and Environmental Futures (C-SEF), part of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at CU Boulder. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys outdoor activities and traveling.
