NVC Newsletter August 2024
NVC is sponsored by CU Boulder's Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative, a gateway to entrepreneurial ecosystem that incorporates various units across campus including Venture Partners, the Deming Center, Silicon Flatirons, CMCI, Engineering, ATLAS and a host of entrepreneurial focused groups.
Welcome to the 2024-2025 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Season– we’ve got exciting news to share!
But first, a quick recap on last year’s hugely successful NVC: Thanks to the addition of our partnership with Kickstart, we were able to provide $165,000 in funding to our 2023-24 New Venture Challenge winning teams! Additionally, CU Boulder was in the top five universities launching startups to commercialize university intellectual property, according to AUTM. And finally, last year also saw the launch of the High School New Venture Challenge (HSNVC), where we had 87 high school teams compete for $8,000 in scholarships.
What’s New?
We have a new Partner: D4 has joined us, and combined with Kickstart’s continuing support, we will be able to offer more than $200,000 in funding for our NVC winning ventures! On the competition front, we are offering two distinct tracks: New Venture (for early-stage, scientific or technological start-up ventures) and Deep Tech (for established start-up companies). Finally, we’re rolling out HSNVC across the state with a focus on rural and under resourced school districts.

Help us in making the New Venture Challenge possible
Become a mentor
CU Boulder's entrepreneurial mentor network supports innovative activity on campus led by students, faculty and staff. CU Boulder entrepreneurs at any stage of development—from idea to launch—need experienced professionals—with industry and business experience to help them on their journey to success in NVC. If you're interested in becoming a mentor, please reach out to Stan Hickory at hickorys@colorado.edu.
Become a sponsor
NVC would not exist without the monetary support we get from our sponsors. Over the next few years, our goal is to increase our prize pool for winning teams to $500,000. This money allows our new ventures to take their companies to the next level, and we have a generous sponsor recognition structure. Learn More About Sponsoring or Give Now
