Juan Orion Sanchez is a first-year PhD student at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and minor in mathematics from the University of Central Florida (UCF). During his time at UCF, he explored research interests in multiple labs (the Composite Materials and Structures Lab and the Interfacial Transport Lab) and spent a summer as a REU HYPER participant. After graduation he worked as a Post-Bachelor student at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). He spent the first half of his appointment in the X Computational Physics group, and the second half working at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center with the Applied Electrodynamics group. During his time at LANL, he developed interests in hypersonic vehicles, plasma physics, and diagnostics, and he is excited to pursue research in these topics as a member of the Magnetoaerodynamics and Aerospace Plasmas Laboratory.
