GPO group awarded NSF Grant “Engineering for Social Justice: Factors shaping the career aspirations and mindsets of humanitarian engineers”
Professors Amy Javernick-Will and Tiera Tanksley (Education), together with PhD student Emma
Stine and MS student Manjeet Pandey, received a grant from the National Science Foundation’s
(NSF) Research in the Formation of Engineers (RFE) program. During a time of reform for the
Humanitarian Engineering (HE) sector, this three year $350k project is studying the career
outlooks and paths of students and alumni enrolled in humanitarian engineering (HE) programs,
including self-efficacy, outcome expectations, aspirations, and the ability to enact social justice.
