Mandy Warren is a fourth-grade teacher in a school district in Northern Colorado. She explores, questions, innovates, wonders, and dreams alongside her students every day. She wants each of her students to know that their stories matter and that we are all teachers learning from each other each day.

Abstract

This submission features a drawing created by an elementary school teacher and participant at the 2021 Educators Institute for Equity and Justice. The author created this drawing in response to Queering the Teacher’s Lounge keynote.

Equity and Justice 

I went to the Queer Endeavor conference knowing that I needed to do more to show up for all of my students. Not only was I inspired, but I walked away feeling empowered and that I was given actionable steps so that ALL of my students feel safe, heard, and seen in my elementary classroom every day.
