- JEWISH STUDIES

Kris is currently a double major in Jewish Studies and Religious Studies. She first came to CU in 1979 and is now returning to the University to finish her studies after raising a family and working for many years at the University of Colorado.
Kris first took JWST/HEBR2350 Introduction to Jewish Culture under the instruction of Professor Zilla Goodman which appealed to her interest in religious traditions and human cultures. As she has taken more Jewish Studies courses, Kris has found a special interest in ancient Jewish religion and is subsequently pursuing the study of Biblical Hebrew. She is considering graduate school after graduating in order to further her knowledge.
Kris states, "So far I have enjoyed all of my Jewish Studies classes for different reasons. The professors have brought their expertise into the classroom and have made learning about Judaism an interactive venture. I love the personal commentary and insight Professor Zilla Goodman brings to her class, the engaging style and class discussions promoted by Professor David Shneer, and the way that Professor Elias Sacks can lead and read between the lines in a group discussion."
Kris advises students looking to become a Jewish Studies major or minor, "...to sit in on a class and observe the interactions and class dicussions between professors and students - this style seems to be a hallmark of the Jewish Studies classroom experience. I feel like I'm at a small college within a large university. It's perfect!"
