Kathleen (Major)
- Major
- JEWISH STUDIES

Kathleen is pursuing a triple major in Jewish Studies, History, and Pre-Education, as well as a minor in Classics at the University of Colorado.
Kathleen became attracted to Jewish Studies because of the program's focus on history and culture but "really fell in love" after meeting the professors, TAs, advisors, and students involved in the program. She is particularly interested in the evolution of Judaism, especially the Second Temple and Sasanian Periods, which she has been exploring in HIST/JWST1818 Introduction to Jewish History: Bible to 1492.
Kathleen is currently serving at the Program in Jewish Studies' 2014 Barry and Sue Baer Scholar. She is also a member of the Jewish Studies Undergraduate Student Advisory Board.
For students considering becoming a major or minor in Jewish Studies, Kathleen advises, "Do it. My experience has been phenomenal. I am a single mother and sometimes I feel out of place on campus, but after talking to people like Professor David Shneer, Jamie Polliard, and Christine Luft, I felt my voice heard. They talk to me about class material, my career path, and everything in between, helping me create a sound academic plan geared towards my passions. On top of that, all the advisors, professors, TAs, and students I have met are passionate, friendly people who create a learning environment based off success, not competion. They strive for quality education, not a small feat in today's society."
After graduation, Kathleen plans to pursue higher education to foster her passion for teaching. She is considering focusing her graduate studies in Jewish Studies.
