Most ideas about Jewish culture in the United States come from Ashkenazi traditions, but there’s a vast landscape of Jewish cultures around the world—and represented in the U.S. The diversity of American Jews is a major focus Mehta's research, both through her current project, Jews of Color: Histories and Futures, and in her book about interfaith families, “Beyond Chrismukkah.”
