Liaison and Finance Staff
Liaison staff
Liaisons are professional staff members assigned to assist recognized student organizations (RSOs) with the creation, execution and implementation of their student organization. CSI determines the liaison the RSO works with based upon their self-classified category during the annual registration process.
Go to the student organization directory and search for your RSO name where you will see the category the RSO is listed under.
Student Organization Success (S.O.S.) Meeting
The purpose of S.O.S. meetings is to meet with a CSI liaison and learn primarily about the funding process, what type of funding an RSO is eligible for as well as any university policies the RSO may need to take into consideration. CSI liaisons will also be the first to review an RSO’s funding request before sending it to a funding board.
Liaisons are also here to help with:
- Leadership development
- Navigating and understanding campus policies
- Referral to campus departments
- Recruitment and membership retention
- Organization marketing
- Organization development such as bylaw creation and running effective meetings
- Internal conflict and membership concerns
When are they available to meet?
We strongly recommend that RSOs schedule appointments with their assigned liaison to ensure the best possible guidance. However, during normal business hours, a liaison is available for drop-in appointments for to answer general questions.
Schedule an S.O.S. meeting with your assigned CSI liaison listed below.

Finance staff
CSI finance staff primarly work with RSOs after they have been approved for funding by a CU Student Government funding board.
Pre-Spending Meetings: focus on the RSO’s spending options for the approved funds that appear on the organizations' BuffConnect Portal. This may include:
- Reviewing CU fiscal policies and discussing timelines
- Identifying whether CSI is purchasing or whether an individual will be reimbursed
- Post Spending Reports
- In some cases, scheduling a Spending Meeting with CSI Finance to do the actual spending may be required
Like our liaisons, finance staff assist RSOs by self-classified category selected during their annual registration process.
CSI finance staff are also here to help with:
- Making purchases
- Depositing funds into your revenue fund
- Paying performers/speakers/services
- Reimbursements (once you’ve been approved by a funding board or have funds in your revenue fund)
- Booking travel
- Navigating financial policies and procedures
- Answering financial questions
When are they available to meet?
To ensure availability, we recommend you contact finance staff for pre-spending meetings, booking travel and purchasing. Contact your staff member directly or via csifinance@colorado.edu.
