HSNVC: showcasing the next generation of entrepreneurs

Get ready to be inspired by the next generation of entrepreneurs at the 2026 High School New Venture Challenge (HSNVC)—powered by FirstBank. 

Big ideas, bold minds

HSNVC is a spin-off of CU Boulder's New Venture Challenge and one of the newest and fastest-growing programs of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative. HSNVC is open to high school students statewide—from urban centers to rural communities across Colorado. Since its inception in 2023 as a pilot program, participation has increased annually by 50 percent.This year, 90 student teams worked throughout the school year to develop ideas and refine their pitches.

Each team works with an adult Venture Coach, who provides mentorship and guidance throughout the HSNVC season. At the HSNVC Finals, students pitch their ventures to a panel of judges and live audience for a chance to win a share of $25,000 in scholarship funding to apply towards future tuition at CU.

About the New Venture Challenge

The New Venture Challenge (NVC)—a signature program of CU Boulder’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative—is a launchpad for aspiring problem-solvers and creatives. Participants have the opportunity to build impactful ventures through entrepreneurial events and programming, community support, mentorship and the chance to compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding!
