Still looking for a summer startup job? It's not too late!
Summer is almost here but it still isn’t too late to find a job or internship at a startup for the next few months. Check out a few great tips for finding your startup position!
Check out Handshake
Handshake has thousands of internships and jobs posted to it every month. CU Boulder’s Handshake platform is filled with employers who recruit specifically with Career Services to find talented Buffs. Better yet, we’ve curated a custom list of local Colorado Startup opportunities so that searching for positions is even easier for you! We’ve had over a dozen new positions posted in the last two weeks.
Get Involved with Local Startups
Sometimes the best way to find a job is by accident. Meeting people involved in the startup scene can create random chance encounters and open up doors for you. You might consider attending the Boulder Startup Week in May, going to PitchBoulder, or attending events through Colorado Startups!
Reach Out to Startups you Like
Startups don’t always have the time or space to get their openings posted on job boards or their internship programs formally promoted. Sometimes, the best way to find an opening is by proactively connecting with a local startup. That can come through networking or as simply as messaging the startup through LinkedIn or a contact page on their website. Craft a 3-4 sentence “elevator pitch” to introduce yourself, explain your interest, and ask if there are any current openings!
Search on other Job Boards
While Handshake is an amazing resource, it isn’t the only one. You can also find startup positions on other job boards. Colorado Startups mentioned above has a Slack channel for opportunities under the “Talent” thread. BuiltInColorado is a great site for positions at homegrown Colorado companies. There are also similar websites for many other metro areas and states! You can also use large job boards like LinkedIn, Indeed, and more (quick tip: keyword search on the word startup)!
