Southwest Colorado’s inaugural Native Entrepreneurship workshop

The Southern Ute Tribe, Fort Lewis College and The University of Colorado-Boulder Leeds School of Business Deming Center for Entrepreneurship will host the virtual inaugural Native Entrepreneurship workshop May 21 and 22.

This certificate course will impart a framework to help entrepreneurs develop sought-after products and services, avoid pitfalls and find success at entrepreneurship. This course will also have a special focus on best practices for building bridges between native and local communities.

The workshop will be taught by Erick Mueller and Visda Carson, entrepreneurs and award-winning professors at the Leeds School of Business.

The two-day workshop begins with a virtual happy hour session from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Content will include small group breakout sessions, practical exercises to test and improve the viability of a business model, and opportunities to ask specific questions. The class cohort will have opportunities throughout the year for continued engagement and mentorship.

Cost for the workshop and ongoing cohort support is $50, with scholarships available for Ute Tribal Members with code “UteTribe” at checkout.
