Grad+ Summer Book Club – July 19 @ 3 – 4 p.m., Rayback Collective 
This summer, join us in reading GRIT: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth. We will discuss the book and how to apply it to your academic and personal goals. Register here.  

Self-Care for Leaders – July 20 @ 12 – 1 p.m., CASE, Room E422 
Revisit and reflect on your goals for self-care. Explore how to create supportive teams and learn strategies to communicate more effectively with those you work with. Jennie Bernstein, PsyD, training and coaching program manager, and James Huffman, academic partnerships and outreach program manager, from Health Promotion, will guide you through this two-part series tailored to graduate students. Proposal Writing 101 – July 27 @ 12 – 1 p.m. via Zoom 
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) invites postdocs and graduate students to learn about the process for successful proposal development. The workshop will focus on best practices for writing a quality grant proposal for potential funders. Jim Mazzouccolo, proposal editor and writing coach for the Research & Innovation Office (RIO), will discuss key steps, including reviewing funder guidelines and requirements, project planning, writing, editing and proofreading. Graduation Deadlines 

July 19, 2022 
Doctoral students must complete the PhD dissertation defense or final examination by this date. Notice of the examination must be provided to the Graduate School by your academic unit two weeks before the exam on an examination report form.  

July 26, 2022 
PhD students must submit the dissertation with Thesis Approval Form to ProQuest by this deadline. The dissertation must be submitted electronically for review and approval by Gradaute School staff by the end of the business day. The Thesis Approval Form (TAF) must be uploaded as a supplemental file with the dissertation in order for the submission to be complete. Students whose dissertations are received after this deadline, or those not submitted with the TAF, must apply to graduate at the following semester's commencement. 

PhD and DMA students must fill out the Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) online by this deadline. See additional information about the survey

July 26, 2022 
Master's students must complete the thesis defense or final examination by this date. Notice of the examination must be provided to the Graduate School by your academic unit two weeks before the exam on an examination report form. Certain units do not require an exam for non-thesis students. Please contact your department with any questions. 

Plan ahead for August 2, 2022 
Master's thesis plan students must submit the thesis and Thesis Approval Form to ProQuest by this deadline. The thesis must be submitted electronically for review and approval by Graduate School staff by the end of the business day. The Thesis Approval Form (TAF) must be uploaded as a supplemental file with the dissertation in order for the submission to be complete. Students whose dissertations are received after this deadline, or those not submitted with the TAF, must apply to graduate at the following semester's commencement.
