Medical

The University of Colorado's Global Medical Brigade helps develop sustainable health initiatives and provides relief where access to healthcare is limited.  During each program, students embark on daily brigades to a number of isolated villages throughout Honduras, Panama or Nicaragua to set up temporary medical clinics.  Our temporary medical clinics consist of a triage, consultation, charla and pharmacy station.  Patients are transitioned throughout these student-run and/or student-supervised stations similar to a traditional hospital.  Below is an example of a mock itinerary for a medical brigade and a more in-depth breakdown of a medical clinic.

Hybrid Brigade

Certain countries only offer certain types of brigades due to their stage of development.  Because working toward preventing ailments before curing them improves the efficiency and development of sustainable communities, medical brigades are sometimes extended to allow students to participate in a mini public health brigade in order to help alleviate the source of what the traveling clinic cures.
