Darwin Quiroz is a physics graduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder. He grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in physics and electrical engineering from George Mason University. • His interest in optics first began as an undergraduate while working in a nuclear magnetic resonance lab, where he developed an improvised explosive device (IED) detector using atomic magnetometers.
