Mathematics majors learn knowledge and awareness of topics such as basic real analysis of one variable, calculus of several variables and vector analysis, and the structure of mathematical proofs. Students will also acquire the ability and skills to move from concrete to abstract thinking; recognize patterns and connections between mathematics and other subjects; and construct logical arguments that they can articulate both verbally and in writing.

The Minor in Signals and Systems provides training in control systems, digital signal processing or communications beyond the training usually received by science, mathematics and applied mathematics majors.
