Looking for another class to add to your schedule?

Have you recently dropped a course from your schedule? Are you concerned about staying on track to graduate? Consider adding COMM 2400 to your schedule this semester.

College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) is offering a special section of COMM 2400 called Discourse, Culture and Identities to allow students who have recently dropped a course to add one to their schedule in order to stay on track to graduate. This class will include weekly face-to-face meetings and online learning. In this course, you'll examine how aspects of talk (turn-taking, speech acts, narratves, dialect, etc) link with indentities (ethnic and racial, age, gender, work-related and personal). You'll also consider how communication is central to constructing who people are, and examine social controversies related to talk and identities.

It fulfills the Arts and Science Gen Ed distribution requirement for Social Science and the U.S. Perspective Diversity requirement. It also meets the Diversity and Global Cultures and People and Society requirements for CMCI Core.

Since this course is being offered later in the semester to accommodate students who have dropped a course, it will have an accelerated timeline running from March 5 to May 1. Students will not be able to register for this course on their own, and must meet with a PES advisor to enroll.

There will be no tuition cost for students who take this course if they are currently enrolled in 12 – 15 credits.

Interested in taking COMM 2400? Meet with your advisor to see how this course could fit into your academic journey.
