As the new Director of ENVD, I am very excited to welcome you back to a new year. You have probably noticed that there are a lot of things happening in ENVD. New shades on the third floor, all studios back in the main building and some exciting renovations coming for CINC are just a few of the changes that you will see this semester.

First-Year Programming

ENVD Peer Mentors

ENVD Peer Mentors will be hosting Academic Tabling every week for the first six weeks of the semester. This is open to all students in the program that need additional assistance in their academic work including technology questions, peer review for essays and any other coursework in ENVD. Academic Tabling will be hosted in ENVD 134 on the following dates from 5-6 p.m.

ENVD Peer Advising

The ENVD Peer Advising Staff will be available in the front office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Peer Advisors serve as a great resource for any questions you might have regarding classes, adding or dropping a course or just a quick advising question. If you need additional assistance, they can work with you to get assigned an appointment with your assigned advisor!

American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS)

Our CU Boulder chapter provides students with opportunities to get involved with the Boulder/Denver architecture community through firm tours, home tours, lectures, national conferences and other fun events.

We currently looking for freshmen reps! If you are interested, please contact aias@colorado.edu.

Get involved in any of our Environmental Design student clubs and organizations. Whether you are interested in architecture, landscape architecture, planning or just want to represent our program there is a group for you.

ENVD Research Colloquium Series

ENVD is hosting its inaugural Research Colloquium Series this fall where faculty from the program will be presenting their research and the journey that took them from freshmen in college to where they are today. All are welcome to attend.

The deadline for first-year ENVD students to register to receive one ENVD elective credit for attending these presentations is tomorrow, September 5; register for ENVD 1976.

ENVD freshmen are invited to sign up to enjoy lunch with faculty following the presentations; signup is first come, first served and limited to 15 attendees.

Presentations will be in ENVD 134 from 12-1 p.m. lunch will follow at 1 p.m.

In Case You Missed it

Welcome Daniel Perez

Please welcome Daniel Perez as our new Design Technology Coordinator at the Digital Media Center. Daniel received a B.A. from Princeton University and an MLS from Syracuse University with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Digital Libraries. He most recently worked with Pikes Peak Library District as their first Creative Services Instruction Librarian, overseeing the new makerspace, developing and teaching a wide variety of technology workshops covering Microsoft products, 3D modeling, graphic design, 3D printing, CNC routing and more.

Farewell Curt Hammerly

After nearly a decade of serving as the ENVD technology manager, Curt Hammerly has transitioned into ceramics full-time with @hammerlyceramics. Check out his Forever Buffs Q&A with the Coloradan.
