Rachel has held various positions within higher education since graduating with her MA in English in 2018 from North Carolina State University. Her research interests are in trauma studies and contemporary American lit. Before arriving at CU, she taught college humanities & developmental English courses, and she has worked in academic advising. Rachel also has a Bachelor of Social Work degree that she draws upon in her work, focusing on issues of equity and access in higher education. She is interested in exploring the intersections of mental health & wellness, socioeconomic background, ability, and identity as they pertain to one’s experiences in academia.

Rachel is originally from the coast of North Carolina and enjoys studying/discussing Southern and Appalachian culture. She loves coastal ghost stories, all dogs, and David Lynch.
