Kelly Hurley teaches Victorian studies, popular genres, and literary theory. She received her BA from Reed College and her PhD from Stanford University. She is the author of The Gothic Body: Sexuality, Materialism, and Degeneration at the Fin de Siécle and is currently completing a monograph on horror film spectatorship.
