Keira Deer

  • (she/her)
  • MFA Student

Keira Deer (she/her) is an MFA candidate specializing in poetry at CU Boulder, originally hailing from Southern California. Her poetry varies between history-based pieces, which excavate and honor the stories of minorities—particularly Asian-Americans and immigrants, in exploration of her own lineage—and personal works which explore more guarded subjects of young womanhood, biraciality, religious unknowns, processes of grief, and voicelessness. Prior to her studies in Boulder, Keira earned her BFA in Creative Writing from Chapman University and served as an editorial intern at Red Hen Press. Her work has been published in The Good Life Review, Scapegoat Review, and Hawai’i Pacific Review, among others, and was included in California Poet Laureate Lee Herrick’s “Our California” project in 2023.
