Franklin Mitchell

Franklin Mitchell is a PhD student in literature with a special emphasis on Afrofuturism and queerness. Their work examines the ways that Afrofuturist narratives create discourses of care and community that write against the othering narratives of mainstream science fiction. As a teacher, their classes focus on rhetorics of identity. Through writing workshop centered coursework, they aim to teach their students how to think rhetorically as a powerful tool of reflection and self composition as well as communication and persuasion.
