"Since graduating from CU Boulder, I've been working with a nonprofit called the Fund for Equality, who is currently partnering with The Human Rights Campaign to win hard-fought campaigns to promote and protect LGBTQ equality.
This fall, we are tackling some big issues and looking for people who want to make change happen and right now we are hiring!
The campaign we are working on right now is to get full federal protections passed for LGBTQ folks. Currently in 28 states LGBTQ folks don't have sufficient protections in housing, employment, public accommodations, education, etc. This is why we are trying to get the Equality Act passed which would protect LGBTQ folks on a federal level.
While this legislation hasn't passed yet, the grassroots support we built helped convince President Obama to issue an executive order protecting gay and transgender workers from discrimination. The order prohibits government contractors from discriminating against workers based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
Now, we're working to make sure all LGBTQ people are afforded the same protections. Interested in joining us? Apply at jobs.fundforequality.org.
