Bailey Walker deeply grateful for winning competition prize

Bailey Walker

Bailey Walker is a Broadcast Production major at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She grew up on the Quebec boarder in a small Vermont town where she was homeschooled for seven years. Her favorite place to write is on top of the Wood’s Quarry trail, and on warm Saturday mornings she can always be found amid the glorious hubbub of the Boulder Farmers’ Market. The only thing Bailey values higher than a good leather notebook is her old purple road bike, which goes everywhere with her.

“It was an enormous pleasure to write for the Dick Shahan Undergraduate Writing Competition, and I am humbled to have received this honor. Boulder will always mark an important time in my life, and I loved having the chance to express my infatuation with such a majestic place through writing. If winning this award means that I have in some way accurately captured the essence of such an eccentric and extraordinary city, then there are no words to express my overwhelming gratitude.” Bailey Walker, June 2015
