The purpose of the PhD annual review is for you, your faculty advisor, and the Doctoral Core faculty to review your progress at the end of each year of your program. This meeting is intended to ensure that students are getting clear and regular feedback about their academic and professional responsibilities as graduate students. As part of the yearly evaluation process, each student should understand their progress in relation to Graduate School benchmarks, program-specific benchmarks, and any required timeline for completion of their degree, as outlined in Graduate School Rules. This annual review should include, but is not limited to:
- Required courses and total coursework credits required
- Examinations (Comprehensive, Dissertation Proposal Defense, Dissertation Defense)
- Dissertation or project research
- Program-specific requirements (e.g., publishable paper)
- Assessment and determination of whether the student is making adequate academic progress
- Planning for the upcoming year
