NCRPPThe National Center for Research in Policy and Practice (NCRPP) has just released an interim report summarizing findings from the first year of a two-year study of the Researcher-Practitioner Partnerships in Education Research program, which is part of the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences. The grant program supports two-year collaborations among researchers and practitioners in a variety of educational organizations, including school districts, departments of education, and social services agencies.

NCRPP’s study of the program describes how 27 Institute of Education Sciences-funded researcher-practitioner partnerships address a variety of educational issues. Through surveys and interviews, 106 researchers and practitioners shared their RPPs’ aims, challenges, projected outcomes, and experiences as they engaged in new ways of working together. Here we share a few common themes related to partnerships’ goals, challenges, and benefits of researcher-practitioner collaboration.

The interim report details: how partnerships study a variety of educational issues; that researchers and practitioners highly value working in partnerships; that partnerships work through common challenges together; and how to support and work in partnerships.
