Please review any questions and answers below about the transition program. Please note that our transition program has concluded for the year.

When will the transition program take place?

The Transition Program will begin on Monday, August 19th and end the following day, Tuesday, August 20th.

How do I know if I'm eligible for the transition program?

You are eligible for the Transition Program if you are an incoming first-year student registered with Disability Services. Registration means that you have completed the intake process before July 10th and have been determined eligible for accommodations through Disability Services. Since only 60 students will be admitted into the program, students seeking to participate in the Transition Program must RSVP as soon as possible. If all spots should be taken, students can be added to a wait list to participate.

Participants for the Disability Services Transition Program are expected to attend all learning sessions.

You are ineligible for the program if you participate in another early move-in program during Monday, August 19th and/or Tuesday, August 20th.

Is this program only for students with specific disabilities?

Any first-year student registered (completed intake meeting and determined eligible for accommodations) with Disability Services can RSVP for the Transition Program. The program is designed to cater to all students with disabilities. If you are concerned about your disability and how it might relate to this program, please contact us with any questions you may have. We are available through email at dsinfo@colorado.edu or you may call our office at 303-492-8671.

How much will it cost me to participate in the program?

The Transition Program is free! There will be no charge for participation.

Why should I participate in this program?

This program is designed for students to learn more about their disability as it relates to transitioning to college. You will learn the best ways to communicate with professors, advocate for yourself, and learn about all of the necessary resources available to you before school even begins. We recognize that moving to a college campus and starting classes in a new area can be challenging, so our program is designed to ease any concerns you may have before classes start. You will have the opportunity to become familiar with our office, ask current students questions, and talk with faculty members about how to determine your best methods for collegiate success.

Can my parents come to the program as well?

Absolutely - Parents are encouraged to participate as well. Aside from student sessions, we will also have a session for parents.

However, we do not offer on-campus lodging for parents. Lodging must be acquuired off-campus during the Transition Program for parents.

Please view the Helpful Resources page for further reference.

What does the schedule look like for the program?

Please refer to our program schedule for more information. A more detailed schedule about each session will be made available as we approach the date of the Transition Program.

The current schedule is subject to change and may include logistical shifts to incorporate other early move-in programs.

Will I have the chance to setup my residence hall room before the program?

The Transition Program will begin on Monday, August 19th at 12:00 PM. You will have the morning (9am) to move-in and begin setting up your residence hall room and becoming familiar with the campus environment. Additionally, our program is scheduled in a way where you will not miss any Fall Welcome activities on Tuesday the 20th, as we want you to be able to participate with all programs available.

How do meals and parking work?

Lunch will be provided during the beginning session of Monday, August 19th. On Tuesday, August 20th, we will provide breakfast prior to the morning session.

Parking passes will be made available for attending parents and students. There will be one parking pass available for each student registered. We anticipate a high amount of traffic on campus during these days, so if you would rather park off-campus, a map of free parking will be made available on the Helpful Resources page as we approach the start of the transition program.
