Legislative Affairs Committee

The Legislative Affairs Committee (LAC) is responsible for assisting the Legislative Department in advocating for policies that have a direct impact on the student body. The committee will consist of individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives who are passionate about legislation and dedicated to representing the student body of CU. Members will engage in thoughtful discussions on policy, draft resolutions for the consideration of the Legislative council, and conduct research on policies to help shape CUSG’s stance on behalf of the student community. The committee will support and enhance the work of the CUSG Legislative Affairs Director and External Affair Tri-Executive, by providing fresh perspectives and diverse viewpoints.

This committee provides the unique opportunity to become involved with politics as a student and make a positive impact on the CU community. Members will have the opportunity to engage firsthand with the legislative process, meet with state legislators, and possibly testify for or against relevant bills.

Job Requirements:

1. Able to commit to meeting one day a week, one hour a week

2. Collaborate with the Legislative and Executive Branch

3. Passionate about serving the student body

This position is unpaid but is a great avenue for you to get your foot in the door if you are passionate about joining CUSG or pursuing a career in law or policy! SOAC Board Member

The Student Organization Allocations Committee (SOAC) is a CUSG funding board that distributes student fee dollars to student organizations in order to help promote enrichment, education, and inclusiveness of the CU Boulder community.
