Assistant to Public Programming Coordinator
Position: Student Assistant I
Hourly pay rate: $10.50
The University of Colorado Museum of Natural History’s Public Programming office is in charge of organizing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs for adult audiences. The Assistant to the Public Programming Coordinator contributes to the knowledge of nature and humanity by helping provide meaningful and memorable learning experiences that encourage discovery and enjoyment of the Museum and the natural world.
Responsibilities
Public Programs and Special Events
- Assist with all aspects of planning public and special events as needed.
- Assist with all aspects of implementation of public and special events including: setting-up and breaking-down events, greeting and assisting visitors, and evaluating events.
Public relations and Marketing
- Help identifying marketing opportunities according to event’s topic and target audiences.
- Help designing, and printing marketing materials.
- Distribute flyers and other print materials to campus and community sites.
- Assist with public inquires on membership, public and special events.
Museum Membership & Mailing List
- Assist maintaining membership and mailing list database.
- Keep membership list current by conducting timely mailings to renewing and lapsed members.
- Keep accurate records of membership transactions.
Miscellaneous
Assist other departments and personnel in Museum as needed.
Requirements
- Must have a work-study award
- Available to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse population groups and maintain a high standard of professional conduct.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Detail-oriented and efficient.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to lift banquet tables weighing up to 35 lb.
