Morphology

cake with green and orange icing
cake with green and orange icing cut open revealing green interior
In addition to pigmentation, morphology is a trait used to further partition each division into different genera and species. Both pigmentation and morphology were inspirations of this piece. I aimed to recreate the pigmentation of diatoms, blue green algae and green algae. Additionally, the morphologies of different genera of BGA and green algae were piped on the sides of the cake.
