Kelsey Hanson
LCSW • Crisis & Triage Team Manager

Kelsey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Studio Art from the University of Northwestern. Her specialized areas of service include crisis mental health care, complex and single incident trauma, somatic interventions and animal-assisted and nature based therapies. She holds certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE), Animals and Human Health, NeuroAffective Touch, and yoga.

Before joining CAPS Kelsey worked with adolescents providing acute mental health services and case management. She has worked in the areas of older youth adoption out of child welfare, in-patient psychiatric care and school social work. Kelsey has sought to educate herself and learn from others on providing psychotherapy services that honor and respect clients with identities that differ from her own. It is her firm commitment to continually be in the process of unlearning and learning to be a better mental health provider and advocate for clients of all identities. She has also worked in the sustainable farming and the animal-assisted therapy and intervention fields. Apart from her career as a social worker she has coached at the collegiate level and enjoys combining her knowledge of athletics and mental health.

Spend an entire summer in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Minnesota.
