Peiying Shi

Peiying is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Professional Psychology. She has experience working with teens, adults, and older adults in various clinical settings. Peiying values the collaborative connection and relationship between therapist and client as the foundation of therapy. Coming from a functional contextualism framework and trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, she is curious about what is and isn't working in her client's life, and how these coping strategies and patterns have developed and continue to impact her clients' relationships, goals, and values currently. In therapy, her client and she will explore and practice alternative options, strategies, and relationship dynamics in a safe, trusting, warm, and genuine therapeutic relationship together. She also draws from various therapeutic techniques, including Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
