Before returning to school in 2003 to obtain his MD, Dr. Matus worked as a writer and freelancer for multiple magazines, including Men's Health and Prevention.  He is board-certified in general psychiatry and consultation liaison psychiatry (dealing with psychiatric issues in medically ill populations).  After serving for 3 years as the director of the consultation-liaison service at Montefiore Medical Center-Wakefield Division in the Bronx, Dr. Matus moved to Colorado in 2016 and worked as a staff psychiatrist for Community Reach Center in Brighton until August 2019.
