Joey joined CAPS as a psychology extern from the Clinical Psychology PhD program here at CU Boulder. Joey most recently worked as a therapist at a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) specialty clinic, and prior to that, worked on a primary care behavioral health team. Joey's research explores the power of friendships in students' lives. He brings this perspective into his therapy practice aiming for the therapeutic relationship to serve as a model and support for more important relationships outside of the CAPS clinic. Joey incorporates mindfulness and compassion into his therapeutic approach and utilizes evidence-based practices to collaboratively identify which strategies will work best for each unique client.
